Pope Calls Attacks "Senseless Acts Against Humanity"
VATICAN CITY, JULY 12, 2006 (ZENIT.org).- Benedict XVI describes Tuesday's terrorist attacks in India as "senseless acts against humanity."
Cardinal Angelo Sodano, Vatican secretary of state, sent a telegram to civil and ecclesiastical authorities, in which the Holy Father stated that he was "deeply saddened by the news of the terrorist attacks in Bombay."
The Pope "assures all affected of his spiritual closeness in prayer."
"While deploring these senseless acts against humanity, the Holy Father commends the many deceased to the loving mercy of the Almighty. Upon their grieving families and the numerous injured he invokes the divine gifts of strength, consolation and comfort," signed Cardinal Sodano.
